Two girls committed to health and fitness. Finding healthy ways to avoid, and sometimes indulge, our inner fat kids.
I’ve been in a real gym rut lately. I get in these phases where the enclosed atmosphere of the gym makes me claustrophobic. Sometimes these phases are a bummer, because I give myself permission to slack off of consistent exercise. That leads into me giving myself permission to slack off with clean eating. As you can see, it’s a slippery slope. Unfortunately, these phases are unavoidable. I have a fairy’s soul; enclosed quarters do not suit me well for too long. But then other times, these phases are fantastic because I get really creative with my workouts!
I just recently moved into a new house with 3 of my girlfriends. The house is amazing. It’s a ranch style home in the foothills of Mt. Wanda, and there are endless hiking opportunities. One of the girls has a pet pit bull named Davis, and he is the sweetest boy I have ever met. Unfortunately, he is not the most well trained creature. All of us girls work full time and have very busy lives on top of that. While Davis gets plenty of love, he doesn’t get out much.
So, I have taken it upon myself to get him out of the house! While the other girls start work at 8, I don’t start until 10. This gives me plenty of time to train this boy AND get a crazy good work out doing it. Pit bulls are STRONG! Davis and I are going to have a great symbiotic relationship and I am so excited. :)
Get creative with your work outs! Don’t let a gym-funk discourage you. Exercise can be anything! All you have to do is get up and MOVE! It could be yard work, going on a hike or a nice walk, dancing, a game of soccer in the park, etc. Make it fun! Mix it up! I’m saying this for you, as much as for myself, to remind us all that just because you don’t want to go to the gym doesn’t mean you can’t work out today.
